WAO-USA's "Arakan National Honorary Award " to Dr. Aye Chan

April 9, 2013

ARAKANLAND

Dr. Aye Chan (L) and Dr. Aye Kyaw (R)

WAO-USA—4 Apr.2013—WAO-USA, a branch of World Arakannese Organization, is going to hold planning an Award Ceremony, an Arakanese History Conference, and WAO-USA’s 7Th Annual Meeting—all  together around—in the summer in United States of America.

These plans were decided by members of the Executive Committee of WAO-USA in the regular tele-conference on March 17, 2013. During the meeting, U Tun Won, one of the patron members of WAO-USA, proposed to give an award to Dr. Aye Chan. We unanimously selected and decided-- among the giving title awards—an award “ Arakan National Honorary Award”, that will be paid tribute to Dr. Aye Chan; he  academically worked  the outstanding credits with his tireless efforts were:

1. Defending and promoting internationally of the  critical historical facts about the true backgrounds and origins of Arakanese people, the history of Arakan State and the history of Myanmar that have vital importance in the future of Arakanese people and the future of Myanmar.

2. Taking the leading role in World Arakanese Organization and its humanitarian projects including aids to Nargis Cyclone victims, Giri Cyclone victims, victims of Bangali Violence in Arakan State of Myanmar, and various humanitarian initiatives and projects in Arakan State and in Myanmar.

3. Promoting and providing guidance, personal assistance in the education and development of the younger generations in Arakan State, in Myanmar and throughout the world.

4. Contributing and providing guidance for the development of Myanmar and defending the national interests in Myanmar during the time of historic changes and forming of democracy in Myanmar.

We are very pleased to inform to this important decision of offering to Dr. Aye Chan with the first Arakan National Honorary Award by WAO-USA.  And so on, we would also like to hold an Arakanese History Conference/Seminar led by Dr. Aye Chan; we will hold our 7th WAO (USA) Annual Meeting at the same time too.
